On Friday, Securus team members spent the day judging student technical competitions at the SkillsUSA of Washington Championships. We’re excited to share our involvement with you!

SkillsUSA is a workforce development organization dedicated to equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel across a variety of professional fields. Each year, educators devote countless hours in their classrooms to prepare students for the annual SkillsUSA Championships, a series of carefully designed challenges created and judged by industry experts.

Securus Systems partners with the SkillsUSA of Washington team in both designing and judging these technical competitions. Now, after our second year of participation, we’ve gotten the hang of things!

As judges, we’re dedicated to developing relevant, real-world tech scenarios and prompts for the participating students. Technology is forever evolving, so preparing challenges that are up-to-date, and current is key.

Through these competitions, our team has witnessed the remarkable passion and determination displayed by student competitors who are excited about future careers in IT. We love that we get to be a part of their journey!

In addition to the hard skills cultivated through these challenges, the SkillsUSA Championships provide a space for students to develop important soft skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and professional etiquette. By working with professionals who share their passion for innovation and technology, students gain valuable insights into potential career paths that can influence them well beyond the competition.

At Securus, we take immense pride in contributing to the success of students who one day may work in the cybersecurity and technology fields. Our continued partnership with SkillsUSA has not only helped shape the development of emerging talent but also allowed our own engineers to grow.

Our team can’t wait for next year!
